Back to Work and Daycare

We are on week two of being back to work and daycare. It is great to be back on a schedule. We are dealing with in inevitable first illness after returning to daycare. Of course, Brody had a runny nose after 3 days of being back around the kids! On the very first day, we were informed that there was a case of strep and a rotavirus going around.  We were very nervous, but he seems to be getting through it okay.  Over the weekend, the runny nose developed into a fever, ear infection, and chest congestion.  We've been to the Pulmonologist, Express Care, and the Walk-In Clinic at his pediatrician's office.  We aren't hesitating to take him in and get coached through this, especially the first one.  Everyone we've seen thinks he is dealing with the virus okay.  We will continue to give him increased nebs, monitor his oxygen, and watch him very close.  The fever is gone now and the runny nose is better.  His chest is still a little rattle-y but there is no wheezing.  Hopefully, we keep it that way.

Of course my first instinct was to keep him home.  But we can't really afford that and the doctor talked us through it. This time of the year is the best time to get him back into daycare and if we are going to do it, we should do it now.  We can't get too reactive about one illness.  If he is sick all summer, that could be a different story and we might need to re-consider.  If there is ever a time to keep him out of daycare, it would be winter when the flu and RSV are going around.

Anyway, that is all that is going on here.  It has been awesome being able to open up the windows and walk outside without needing to bundle up!
